KUALA LUMPUR | The government has decided to let the army to move in this Sunday (March 22) to assist the police with the enforcement of the movement control order, says Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said at a press conference on Friday (March 20) the government hoped control would be better with the army’s backing.

“We believe with the army’s assistance, the movement control would be better enforced,” he said in a press conference to provide updates on Covid-19.

Ismail Sabri said the army would assist the police in monitoring the situation and ensuring that people stayed in their homes.

He said adherence to the order was increasing among the people, but there were still incidents of people who disregarded it by playing games outdoors, going to playground and eating in food outlets.
