PETALING JAYA | The human resources ministry is investigating a factory in Ipoh, Perak over alleged racism that led to the death of one of its employees last week.
Human Resources Minister M Saravanan assured that those involved in the alleged incident would be held responsible for their actions.
“I guarantee that if they are found guilty, the authorities will take legal action,” he said at a press conference in Bukit Damansara today.
Saravanan was commenting on the case of a man who had crashed his car into the company’s premises and hurled a Molotov cocktail into the management office.
The man, who was recently fired, had left the building of the US-based technology company on foot, but was killed by a lorry while crossing the road an hour later.
Shortly after, a video of the man telling of his misery and depression at the workplace was shared on social media.
In the video, the man, in his 50s, said he had been doing well since joining the company, earning bonuses, increments and other incentives, but that he was later accused of having “performance issues”, without being shown any evidence of his alleged shortcomings.
He added that he made two police reports about what he was going through at his workplace and another on alleged racism in the company.
