KUALA LUMPUR | Citi Malaysia is providing its employees with extended Covid-19 medical benefits to support their health and well-being during the pandemic.

The extended medical benefits will cover more than 11,000 of Citi Malaysia’s employees and dependents for private hospitalization expenses of up to RM30,000.

In addition, Citi Malaysia will also cover 90 percent of Covid-19 related private hospitalization or medical expenses exceeding this coverage limit.

“Eligible employees and dependents will have the benefit activated in accordance with the Ministry of Health Covid-19 Management Guidelines as well as medical evaluation and approval,” the bank said in a statement today.

Citi Malaysia chief executive officer Usman Ahmed said in view of the continuing risks related to the pandemic and its focus on employee well-being, the bank was enhancing its medical coverage to ensure employees and dependents receive prompt medical care and support without having to worry about the financial burden of treatment-related expenses.”

For Covid-19 cases under Categories 1 and 2, Citi Malaysia is also providing home care coverage for employees throughout their 10-day quarantine period, including both on-site as well as virtual medical support.

Benefits of the home care coverage include a physical evaluation by a doctor, daily remote monitoring by a nurse, personalized briefings on self-care, provision of oxygen concentrators upon medical recommendation, home delivery of medications when required, and 24-hour hotline support.

Employees who receive the Covid-19 vaccine are also granted two consecutive off-days for each vaccination dose to assist them with their recovery.

Furthermore, under Citi Malaysia’s Employee Assistance Programme, employees and their dependents are provided with counseling and mental wellness support to assist them in their post-Covid-19 recovery journey.

As a proactive measure, all Citi Malaysia employees have access to online counseling clinics to cope with the challenges arising from the evolving Covid-19 pandemic.

“Looking ahead, our future of work model to be rolled out in the coming months will also offer employees much greater flexibility,” Usman said.

Citi Malaysia has consistently prioritized employee welfare throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

In April 2020, Citi Malaysia offered a special compensation award of RM1,000 each for employees earning a base salary of RM60,000 and below per annum, recognizing the hardship these employees are likely to face during the pandemic and to help ease their financial burden.
