SINGAPORE | Nuseir Yassin, the Chief Executive Officer of Nas Daily Pte. Ltd. will deliver the keynote speech at the sixth edition of The Singapore Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Conference, which will take place as a virtual conference on 17-18 November 2020.

Established as the premier platform for workplace safety and health stakeholders across the region, The Singapore WSH Conference gathers regulators, industry leaders and safety professionals to identify problems and formulate recommendations, develop and implement best practices, to ensure the improvement and advancement of safety standards in the workplace.

Notable industry representation

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM), one of the co-organisers of the Conference, spearheads national WSH initiatives to help achieve a globally competitive workforce and great workplace for its people. Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Home Affairs, will deliver the Opening Address, and Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Defence, will participate in a tripartite panel discussion on The Future of Work, to close the conference. Mr John Ng, Chairman of Workplace Safety and Health Council will give the welcome address.

Also gracing the Conference in various capacities are Mr Abu Bakar Bin Mohd Nor, newly appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Workplace Safety and Health Council; Mr Silas Sng, Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health, Divisional Director (Occupational Safety and Health), Ministry of Manpower, and representatives of the Tripartite partners, namely, Mr Melvin Yong, Assistant Secretary-General, National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), and Mr Douglas Foo, Vice President, Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF).

New to the WSH Council and speaking at the Conference for the first time are Dr Gan Wee Hoe, Head and Senior Consultant, Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Singapore General Hospital, and Co-Chairman of Workplace Safety and Health Council’s Workplace Health Committee, and Ms Aileen Tan, Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Singtel.

Representing the International Advisory Panel members at the Conference are Dr Park Doo Yong, President, Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), and Ms Michelle Baxter, Chief Executive Officer, Safe Work Australia.

Putting WSH at the heart of the business

This year, the COVID-19 pandemic is threatening the very heart of a business: its operations.   • Emerging trends in the digital economy and their implications for WSH – ranging from how WSH risks can be quickly identified and better managed, to the opportunities for integration of technologies into the WSH ecosystem
  • How emerging technology is influencing jobs and being used to engage employees, improve WSH outcomes and enhance safety training with ever more realistic scenarios
  • How academia, the government, and industry, can work together to co-create and maintain a safe, healthy, positive work environment to help manage the mental health and well-being of employees
