IPOH | A man who had deliberately rammed his car into his company’s building here was killed an hour later when he was run over by a trailer lorry.
The incident unfolded at about 6.45pm at an industrial area in Chemor near here, yesterday.
Unhappy over his company’s decision to terminate his employment, the 52-year-old rammed his Honda Civic into the building housing his former workplace.
The former project manager then alighted from his vehicle and threw a bottle of petrol at the Human Resources Department.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the man then re-entered his car and rammed it into a production labelling room, triggering a fire which was put out by security guards.
“Soon after that, the man walked out of the building using the main entrance. No one was injured in the incident and he did not carry any weapon.
“A team of policemen was dispatched to the scene to investigate the case, and the losses incurred are estimated at about RM1 million,” he said when contacted.
Asmadi said, however, about an hour later, police received a report that the man was killed when he was hit by a trailer lorry along Jalan Kuala Kangsar here, at about 7.45pm.
Asmadi said initial investigations revealed that the man was unhappy with the company’s management for suspending him from work since September this year due to disciplinary issues.
“The company was investigating him after he was reported to have threatened the top management,” he added.
