SHAH ALAM | With regard to the visit by the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM) to its Ipoh factory workers’ accommodations yesterday, Top Glove has released its official press statement today stating that it will be extending its fullest cooperation to the relevant authorities.
Top Glove, in its statement clarifies that they are in the process of improving the living quarters of their workers, to meet the requirements of the Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act 1990 (Act 446).
As part of the continuous efforts towards this (requirement) for the workers in Ipoh, was the rental of eight (8) units of new shoplot hostels. Six (6) have been occupied while another two (2) are in the process of being set up for the workers.
The exercise to move workers in is ongoing and expected to be completed by early December 2020.
The exercise to further improve the workers’ living conditions at Top Glove began in July 2020 this year, and is expected to be completed by next month, December 2020.
Efforts to source for more accommodation and to improve existing worker accommodations are ongoing.
Top Glove is committed to continue working closely with the relevant authorities to make the necessary improvements towards ensuring the safety and well-being of their workers.
