In the context of celebrating the International Day of Disabled Persons, DKSH’s wholly-owned Famous Amos has been recognized as a caring employer by the Department of Social Welfare, under the Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development of Malaysia.

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, December 10, 2021 – Famous Amos, a business entity wholly owned by DKSH Malaysia, has been awarded the Caring Employer Award (Private Sector) by the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia, under the Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development, for providing career opportunities to individuals with disabilities.

The award ceremony was held in conjunction with the celebration of the International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3 and aimed at recognizing organizations that provide strong support in employing individuals with disabilities in their workforce through “Job Coach – a supported employment program initiated by the Department of Social Welfare. The event was also graced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, as well as the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, YB Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun.

In 2016, Famous Amos has launched the project ORCHID (Opportunities in Rejuvenating Careers for the Hearing Impaired). In support of the Job Coach initiative, this project was conducted in collaboration with the Malaysian Federation of the Deaf, to empower the hearing-impaired community by providing them with career opportunities. Currently, ten individuals among the disabled community are being employed at selected Famous Amos outlets.
