KUALA LUMPUR: Over 67 special interview sessions has been held by the Ministry of Human Resources (KSM) nationwide for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) from January 2020 to March 31 2023.
The effort, according to deputy minister Mustapha Sakmud, is to ensure that no disadvantaged groups are having problem to find employment in this nation.
A total of 464 out of 1,677 people with disabilities were able to obtain employment, while another 566 people advanced to the next phase of interviews.
From 2020 to 2022, 1,689 applications were approved, resulting in RM12.8 million in compensation for this employment incentive.
The ministry has put into place a variety of programs, such as JaminKerja, by creating a particular employment incentive for the disadvantaged groups and a Return-to-Work program to aid PwD in securing employment.
A total of 55,634 individuals with disabilities received assistance to integrate again into an entity the labor market from 2007 to March 31 this year, and the government has also held Career Carnivals for the PwD group. From January 2021 to March 31 this year, more than 2,000 of them were recruited.
These programs aim to lower unemployment and provide more holistic job opportunities in Malaysia, particularly among PwD groups. Just 28.6% of people with disabilities were employed in Malaysia as of 2020, according to the Department of Social Welfare of the Malaysian government. This is a considerable decline from the nation’s general employment rate, which was almost 75% in the same year.
