PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) president, Syed Hussain Syed Husman said that employers should make sure that wages and benefits are in line with the market rate.
In honor of Labor Day, he emphasizes that pay must also be commensurate with the dangers, accountability, and responsibility of the jobs.
“The ability to perform by employees should be recognized and rewarded based on merit.
“All employees should be treated with equality and fairness, and there should be no room for discrimination in the workplace.
“Employers must have the discipline to establish fair and responsible workplace practices,” said him.
Syed Hussain also said that employers also need to provide a career progression structure so that long-term career progression is more visible.
This will help employers to attract and retain talent, he added.
“We must ensure that our employees are well-trained and skilled to do their jobs.
“As employers, we must, at all times, provide a safe and healthy workplace.”
Employees are obliged to adhere to the rules of the organization they work for, according to Syed Hussain, who also stressed the importance of maintaining industrial peace and unity in order for the country to progress.
He also thanked on behalf of MEF to employees and their trade unions for their cooperation and understanding during the COVID-19 pandemic.
