PUTRAJAYA | According to Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar, the application and approval of foreign worker quotas for all industries in Malaysia, including the sub-sector of scrap goods, was placed on hold on March 18.
According to Sivakumar, the Human Resources Ministry (KSM) had begun the application process for the hiring of foreign workers for the scrap goods sub-sector on January 25 after considering the needs of the sub-sector, before it was decided to suspend the approval process on March 18.
According to a statement he released, the action was made to guarantee that the authorization for the arrival of approximately 1.1 million foreign employees may be used to maximize the country’s economic growth without reducing the opportunities for local worker.
Sivakumar said KSM was aware of the issue over the hiring of foreign workers in the scrap goods sub-sector and the matter would be given attention.
The state government would get in touch with KSM and the Home Ministry to hasten the employment of foreign employees for the scrap and recycled goods industry, according to A. Sivanesan, chairman of Perak’s Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs, and National Integration Committee.
