JOHOR BARU | The Segamat branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained two company directors for making false claims to the Social Security Organisation (Socso).
The suspects, a man and a woman aged 64 and 39 respectively, are alleged to have made false claims for the Wage Subsidy Programme, which is under the Penjana package.
“The suspects were detained at the Johor MACC office this afternoon to help in the investigation,” the commission said in a statement.
MACC said it was looking at the matter seriously as it involved the issue of leakages, especially regarding the assistance provided by the government to help reduce the burden of the people during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The case is being investigated under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009,” it said, adding that the suspects were released under MACC bond.
Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrests when contacted.
